There is a digital skills gap in the UK, the Digital Skills Foundation aims to help bridge that gap, through training, coaching and experience.

Over 0.5 million young people unemployed

According to BBC’s Basic Online Research, 20% (10.5 million) UK adults do not have basic online skills. Of the 10.5 million, 73% (7.7million are offline) and 27% (2.8 million) are online. 

23% of UK Small and Medium Enterprises do not have the required basic digital skills expected of their employees. 

‘We are in a Digital Skills Crisis. An estimated 5.8 million people have never used the internet at all, and the Digital Skills Gap is costing the UK economy an estimated £63 billion a year in lost additional GDP,’ House of Commons, Science and Technology Committee. ‘We should be prepared to play a more collaborative role with communities and local authorities in initiatives to raise digital skills in local SMEs.’
